1. Introduction
FocusScore ("we," "our," or "us"), operated by Junsung Park / JunSoft, provides the FocusScore mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use the App. Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the App.
---
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account information: Email address, display name, and password (hashed) when you create an account, or OAuth tokens when you sign in with Apple or Google.
- Profile information: Optional display name and profile image you choose to upload.
- Support communications: Messages, attachments, or other information you send to support@focusscore.app.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage analytics: Feature interactions (e.g., session frequency, timer settings used), session duration, crash reports, and error logs. This data is collected in aggregate and pseudonymized form to improve the App.
- Focus session metadata: Session timestamps, duration, FocusScore values, gaze angle averages, posture score averages, and focus/distraction interval data. This metadata may be stored on our servers if you enable cross-device sync.
- Device information: Device model, operating system version, app version, and locale, used for debugging and compatibility purposes.
- Subscription status: Whether you are on the Free, Plus, or Pro tier. Subscription transactions are processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit 2; we receive only the subscription entitlement status, not your payment details.
2.3 Camera Data -- What We Do NOT Collect
This is the most important section of this policy.
FocusScore uses the front-facing camera to analyze gaze direction, head pose, and posture using Apple's Vision framework. All camera processing runs entirely on your device. Specifically:
- Camera frames are never stored. Each video frame is processed in real time and immediately discarded after numeric metrics (gaze angle, posture score, focus score) are extracted. No frames are written to disk, photo library, or any temporary storage.
- Camera frames are never transmitted. No image data, pixel buffers, or encoded video is ever sent to our servers or any third-party server. The network layer of the App has no access to the camera pipeline.
- Camera frames are never recorded. The App does not record video, take screenshots of the camera feed, or create any visual record of the user.
- No facial recognition or biometric identification. The App does not identify who you are. It only detects where you are looking and your posture orientation. No faceprint, facial geometry hash, or biometric template is created, stored, or transmitted.
- Only derived numeric metrics are retained. The only data that persists beyond a single frame is: FocusScore (integer 0-100), gaze angle (float), posture score (integer 0-100), and timestamp. These are abstract numbers with no visual content.
2.4 Server-Synced Data (Optional)
If you enable cross-device sync, the following numeric-only data is transmitted to our servers via encrypted connection (TLS 1.2+):
```
{
"focusScore": 85,
"gazeAngle": 12.3,
"postureScore": 92,
"sessionDuration": 1500,
"focusIntervals": [{"start": 0, "end": 300, "type": "focused"}, ...],
"timestamp": "2026-04-08T10:30:00Z"
}
```
No image data, camera frames, facial geometry, or biometric information is ever included in server sync payloads.
